The following press release was issued on March 15 by SIR Society of Interventional Radiology at their annual meeting based on the talk given by Dr. Gina Hesley from Mayo Clinic.
The release discusses a study of more than 100 patients treated at Mayo who were followed for 12 months and showed lasting relief from uterine fibroid-related symptoms with MRgFUS-thus avoiding myomectomy, the surgical removal of uterine fibroids, or hysterectomy, major abdominal surgery to remove the uterus.
