InSightec is conducting several clinical trials around the world to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the ExAblate MRgFUS system in relieving pain due to bone metastases and multiple myeloma. This non-invasive outpatient procedure, which does not involve any ionizing radiation, destroys the pain-causing nerves in the bone surface surrounding the tumor in order to relieve pain.
In most cases the treatment will involve one session.
The clinical studies and participating sites are:
Randomized Trial comparing ExAblate MRgFUS (Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery) treatment of Metastatic and Multiple Myeloma Bone Tumors for the palliation of pain in patients and a Sham (no) treatment for patients who are not candidates for Radiation Therapy.
