Kobi Vortman – President & Chief Executive Officer

 

Jackob “Kobi” Vortman, President and Chief Executive Officer of InSightec, has led the company in the development and marketing of its Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) technology. Under his leadership, the company received a CE mark in Europe and US Food and Drug Administration approval for its technology in 2001 and 2004, respectively.

 

Prior to founding InSightec in 1999, Dr. Vortman served as President of Elbit Medical Imaging, which together with GE Healthcare (formerly GE Medical Systems) formed InSightec and remains a major shareholder of the company. Part of Dr. Vortman’s responsibilities at Elbit Medical Imaging included the development of the proprietary MRgFUS technology that was passed to InSightec when the company was established.

 

Previously Dr. Vortman served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Diasonics Vingmed Ultrasound and as General Manager at ElscinTEC. For the 20 years prior, he worked with RAFAEL in a variety of areas, including marketing, business development, operations and engineering.

 

Dr. Vortman received his Ph.D. in Electro Optics and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. He also received a BSc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

 

Oded Tamir – Chief Operating Officer

 

Oded Tamir, Chief Operating Officer, is a co-founder of InSightec, together with Dr. Kobi Vortman.

In his capacity as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Tamir is responsible for the company's business and operational aspects including overseeing downstream marketing, reimbursement, sales, customer support and operations. In addition, Mr. Tamir is in charge of developing future market opportunities for the company's technology including managing the company's ongoing relationships with its strategic partners.

 

Prior to founding InSightec, Mr. Tamir served in a variety of capacities in his 18 years at Elbit systems and Elbit Medical Imaging: Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer and as the Elbit group Business and Operations Planning and Control Manager..

 

Mr. Tamir received a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Management from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa.

Amir Harel – Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer

 
Amir Harel, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for managing the financial operations and reports of the company and the Investor Relations activities.

Before joining InSightec in August 2005, Mr. Harel served as VP Finance & CFO of TransChip Inc. From 1998 till 2004 Mr. Harel was VP Finance and CFO of Tower Semiconductor, where he was responsible for financing large-scale projects. Previously, Mr. Harel was Corporate Secretary and CFO of Elbit Vision Systems Ltd. from 1994 to 1998 and also held financial managerial positions within the Elbit Group.

Amir holds a BSc. in Information Systems Engineering and a M.A. in Industrial Management from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.

David Freundlich – Vice President of Clinical Marketing

 

David Freundlich, Vice President of Marketing &  Clinical R&D, oversees a variety of programs to develop the capabilities of InSightec’s Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound technology, marketed as ExAblate 2000 and to educate and familiarize physicians with its use.

 

Prior to joining InSightec in 1999, Dr. Freundlich served as Vice President of Marketing for Elbit Medical. Previously Dr. Freundlich spent twenty three years at Elscint Ltd, where he held various positions including CT R&D Manager, MRI R&D Manager, Corporate CT Chief Scientist and Vice President of Marketing.  He also was awarded the 1980 Rotshiled Award for Industrial Developments.

 

Dr. Freundlich received his Ph.D in Nuclear Physics from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem.  He also holds a M.Sc. in Physics and a BSc. in Physics & Mathematics from the same institution.

 

Victor Reddick,  Sr, Vice President & Americas General Manager

 
Mr. Reddick is responsible for the Americas: Market development, sales, marketing, reimbursement, and business support to our current and future sites, clinical applications, and service.

Mr. Reddick has 30 years of experience in medical imaging, creating and building highly profitable business entities. Until recently Victor served as SVP Global Customer Management at Philips Medical Systems. He lead the ultrasound sales, marketing and service at Phillips to become the first $1 Billion ultrasound business in 2001.  Victor has knowledge and capabilities in the areas of: marketing, customer management programs development, leading and managing over 1,000 marketing, sales and service employees. .

Mr. Reddick has a degree in Business Administration from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Stanford Executive Program, Standford, California.


Lynn Golumbic – VP Reimbursement & Government Affairs


Mrs. Golumbic previously Marketing Director, is the company leader in the area of reimbursement.  Lynn is the leader in the area of developing, planning and implementing reimbursement strategies, for the public and private payors market segments. Lynn develops health economics strategies and tools for MRgFUS applications, including planning and execution of global health economic studies and submissions for publications, public bodies and private insurers
 

Before joining InSightec in 2003 Lynn worked at Lumenis Ltd, from its beginnings as the start-up ESC, in a variety of marketing positions, including Marketing Communications Manager, Director of Corporate Communications and more recently, Vice President of Marketing for its dental laser division. Prior to that she worked in sales for IBM, both in Israel and in New York.

 

She holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University School of Business and a BA in economics from Barnard College.

Dov Maor – VP, Clinical Marketing International Academic Sites

 

Dov Maor, VP, Clinical Marketing International Academic Sites was previously Vice President Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs. Dov is also responsible for IP and is the Clinical Safety Officer

. 

Before joining InSightec in 1999, Dr. Maor was the Vice President of Technology for Elbit Medical Imaging a subsidiary of Elbit Medical, which together with GE formed InSightec and remains a major shareholder of InSightec.

 

Previously, Dr. Maor was the Chief Scientist and Vice President of Technology at Elscint, Senior Lecturer for the Technion Physics Department, guest scientist at GSI Darmstadt and research scientist for the Israel Defense Ministry.

 

Dr. Maor has published over 35 scientific papers and has presented 20 times at international conferences.  He also holds over 10 patents or patent applications. In 1994, he was awarded Radiology Today’s Top Ten Most Innovative Products award.

 

He received a DSc. and a MSc. Physics from Technion and a BSc. with honors in Applied Physics from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.  Additionally, he studied Management, High-Tech Enterprises at Haifa University.

Yoav Medan – Vice President, Chief Systems Architect


Yoav Medan, Vice President and Chief Systems Architect, is responsible for developing new platforms for the Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound technology.

Prior to joining InSightec in 1999, Dr. Medan spent 17 years in various senior research and management positions at the IBM Research Division and was elected to the IBM Academy of Technology.

In addition to technical and managerial experience, Dr. Medan has academic experience as well, teaching at the EE department at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in addition to serving as a lecturer for Avionic Systems at the Aeonautical Engineering faculty. He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electical and Electronics Engineers.

Dr. Medan has widely published and holds nine IBM as well as several other patents. He was awarded the IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award, the 3rd Invention Achievement Award and the Outstanding Research Division Award.

Dr. Medan received his D.Sc. and B.Sc.(Summa Cum Laude) in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and a M.B.A diploma from Bradford University, UK.


Yerucham Shapira – Software Research and Development Manager

 

Yerucham Shapira, Software R&D Manager, is responsible for software development and revisions for InSightec’s Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound system. He has held the position since 2002.

 

Dr. Shapira joined InSightec in 1999 as the Image Processing Team Leader.  Prior to joining InSightec, Shapira spent six years at Imetrix, Ltd. As a general manager, R&D manager and algorithms team leader.  He began his career at MALAM doing engineer project work.

 

Dr. Shapira received his Ph.D in Applied Math and Computer Science from the Weizmann Institute of Science.  He also received his M.Sc. in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a B.Sc in Physics from Tel Aviv University. He completed his post-doctorate training at Ben Gurion University in the department of Math and Computer Science and at Montreal School for Technology in the Laboratory for Perception and Computer Vision.

Rani Shoham – Vice President of Operations and Quality

 

Rani Shoham,  Vice President of Operations and Quality, is responsible for production and service, creating and maintaining quality standards.

 

Mr. Shoham joined InSightec in 1999 as the Software R&D Manager.  Previously he spent 15 years at ELTA Ltd. in a variety of capacities from software management to project R&D manager.

 

Shoham received his M.Sc in Physics and his B.Sc. in Physics from Tel Aviv University.

Shuki Vitek – Vice President of Research and Development

 

Shuki Vitek, Vice President of Research and Development, oversees the development and application of Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound for the treatment of uterine fibroids and continues to oversee development for future applications.

 

Before joining InSightec in 1999, Dr. Vitek spent 19 years at RAFAEL and where he held several positions including Deputy General Manager of R&D, Missile Division. He began his career with Rafael as a research engineer.

 

He was been awarded the Rafael Prize twice and received the Jabotinsky Award for his Ph.D. thesis.  He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.  He also received a B.Sc. in Mathematics and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion.

Roni Yagel – Vice President & Asia Pole Manager

 

Roni Yagel, Vice President and Asia Pole Manager, is responsible for marketing, sales, service, support, clinical research and regulatory affairs for InSightec in Asian countries.

 

Dr. Yagel joined InSightec  in 1999 as the Director of Decision Support Systems and managed  the team that built the software for ExAblate 2000.  Before joining InSightec, Dr. Yagel was the R&D Program Manager for Silicon Graphics. Prior to that he held various academic positions including Associate Professor, Department of Computer and Information Science at The Ohio State University. In 1992 he was a visiting scientist at the NASA Lewis Research Center. He began his career as a researcher at State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook in the department of Physiology and Biophysics.

 

Dr. Yagel has published more then 100 scientific papers and 3 books, has made over 40 presentations at international conferences, and served in various positions in academic organizations and conferences.  He also holds three patents and has been awarded Best Paper Award at the Visualization ’97 Conference; the Ohio State University Lumley Engineering Research Award and Honors from the Israeli Parliament Committee of Education.

 

Dr. Yagel received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  He also received a M.Sc. in Computer Science and B.Sc. Cum Laude, Mathematics and Computer Science, from Ben-Gurion University, Israel.

Nadir Alikacem – VP Global Regulatory Affairs and CRO

Nadir Alikacem, VP Global Regulatory Affairs and CRO, was previously North America Pole Manager, Mr. Alikacem is responsible for regulatory strategy, clinical research planning to support the regulatory strategy, research protocols coordinated with the VP Clinical R&D, working with all relevant regulatory bodies, and managing the CRO activities.. 

 

Prior to joining InSightec in 2001, Dr. Alikacem was an Assistant Professor at UT southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Previously, he was a Scientist at Saint Francois’ D’Assise  Hospital in Quebec-City, Canada.


Dr. Alikacem received his Postdoctoral fellowship in Physics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Massachusetts. He received a Ph.D & M.Sc in Physics from the University of Sussex, England.

Haya Zarko – Vice President Human Resources

 

Haya Zarko, Vice President of Human Resources, oversees key hiring decisions in addition to implementing internal policies and communications for the company.

 

Before joining InSightec in 1999, Ms. Zarko served as the HR Manager of Diasonics Vingmed Ultrasound for four years and as HR Manager of Elscint MR division for two years.  Previously Zarko served in personal assistant roles to top-level executives and managers at Rafael.

 

Ms. Zarko received a B. Sc. in Humanities and Social Sciences from Tel Aviv  University.
