The purpose of this study was to assess the degree of fibroid ablation (NPV ratio) and shrinkage after MRgFUS treatment. The qualitative and quantitative relationships between fibroid volume, NPV ratio at treatment, and shrinkage at 6 months post treatment were also evaluated. The average NPV ratio was 55% and the average 6-month shrinkage was 31%. There was a statistically significant correlation between NPV ratio and shrinkage at 6 months post treatment. Both NPV ratio and shrinkage exceeded those in previous clinical trials due to the relaxed treatment guidelines enabling treatment of greater fibroid volumes.
